Some coaching highlights

During his coaching career Neil has been contracted by NZC, Canterbury Cricket and Auckland Cricket as a high performance coach.

He coached at Christchurch Boys High School for 10 years, and coached their 1st XI to 3 consecutive NZC Gillette Cup titles, as well as 2 NZCT junior National titles.

At Canterbury Cricket, he was a high performance batting and spin bowling coach, as well as coaching the Canterbury u17s to two National titles.

Neil was the Takapuna Premier Men’s coach for the 2009/10 to 2011/12 seasons, and coached them to two consecutive 2-day Championships in his first two seasons there. The following season Takapuna won the ACA One Day title, and went on to win the NZC National title. Neil was awarded the Auckland Cricket Coach of the Year award for the 2009/10 season.

Neil returned to Takapuna for the 2021/22 to 2023/24 seasons, with the team winning the 1-day and T20 titles in 2021/22, and Neil again being awarded Auckland Cricket Coach of the Year that season.

Neil’s been based in Wellington full time, since the 2024/25 season, coaching the North City Cricket Club’s Premier Mens team. In the 2025/26 season they won the 1-day final, securing the Hazlett trophy for the first time in 25 years. They also won the overall div 2 competition, gaining promotion to div 1 for 2026/27.

“Fletch has been a huge part of my cricket development over the last 7 years. He is a great coach who really knows what he is talking about, and only wants to do the best for you as a cricketer. I totally recommend Neil as a coach, he has coached me 1on1 for batting as well as a team coach for 7 years and over that time I had progressed from being a school cricketer to making the NZ u19 World Cup team, and now the Black Caps squad.”
